Impulse Treatment Method
THE IMPULSE TREATMENT METHOD
In our office we have a state of the art treatment devise that has helped hundreds of
patients get natural and long-lasting relief from neck and back pain, headaches,
shoulder pain, as well as extremity pain. This is not a brand new experimental
procedure but an FDA approved device that has been used in active practice since
1999. I have taken special training in the use of this treatment devise and have
been using if with great success since January of 2007.
So what is this treatment method? It is called the IMPULSE, and while it
is performed in a chiropractic facility, it does not involve any of the
traditional “so-called” twisting and cracking that most people think of when
envisioning chiropractic treatment. Now keep in mind, I do perform the
traditional style of chiropractic treatment when it is appropriate. However,
many individuals are terrified of’ the traditional “hands on” treatment but
don’t mind receiving the gentle and safe treatment of the IMPULSE.

HOW IT WORKS
Once a traditional history and examination is performed and it is determined that you are a candidate for the IMPULSE method, further evaluation is performed to determine the specific areas to be treated. The devise will deliver a precise gentle tap or a series of taps to help increase movement of the joints and help relax the surrounding muscles, reducing irritation to the surrounding nerves. This treatment is usually performed in conjunction with other treatment therapies such as, massage, ultrasound, muscle stimulation, and heat / ice application. The number of treatments an individual may need depends on the specific condition being treated.
The unique application of this impulse-type adjusting instrument is its precision, speed and multiple impulse capability. Recent scientific research has given us insight into the mechanism of the spinal adjustment and what is actually taking place. In years past, it was always thought that spinal bones were “out of place” and the adjustment or manipulation was “putting them back in”. This is not the case at all. Today we know that joints lose there ability to move freely and joint fixation occurs rather than actually going out of place. We also have learned that a neurological mechanism exists when an adjustment is made. Tiny nerve endings in the joint are stimulated by the adjustment, sending signals to the brain allowing for free movement of the joint. This neurological mechanism also initiates muscle relaxation and the body’s own pain relief. Utilizing a multi-thrust adjusting instrument gives the highest reliability factor of restoring joint motion and function.
Please understand that all chiropractic techniques get results. However, utilizing the fastest, most precise method to restore movement and function without further irritating the involved area will certainly reap the most favorable results.
Please let us know if you have any questions regarding the IMPULSE adjusting method.
